Success!
At the end of March, members of our team flew to the island of Ofu to help with the remote island veterinary clinic through the beginning of April. Ofu is part of the Manu’a Islands – a small grouping of islands surrounded by the vast Pacific Ocean and with no veterinarian or clinic. We worked alongside Dr. Kristen and her team to provide much needed and wanted relief. Cats and dogs were treated in Ofu, Olosega and Ta’u. We were so inspired by our veterinary efforts given the limited resources on these remote islands! Midway through the clinic, things got a little crazy during the remote island clinic when a monsoon descended on the islands and slammed Coconut Mutts volunteers and the veterinary staff with severe wind, rain and waves. Despite the monsoonal wind and rain, Dr. Kristen and the team ran a full veterinary clinic (huddled behind a building away from the onslaught)!
In the end, our goal to sponsor the sterilization and treatment of 50 animals was reached! We would like to say thank you to all who contributed to this cause. We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from folks around the world! Fa’afetai!
